Langston Hughes Poetry Reading
Rhonda Ward hosts Mystic Arts Center’s 5th annual poetry reading celebrating the legacy of America’s renowned African American poet, Langston Hughes. The afternoon will feature keynote speaker Frederick-Douglass Knowles II with select readings from regional poets, educators, artists, students and members of the community. Free and open to the public.
Frederick-Douglass Knowles is an Assistant Professor of English at Three Rivers Community College. He holds an M.A. in English from Southern Connecticut State University and a B.A. in Sociology from Eastern Connecticut State University.
Rhonda Ward has appeared at many venues to read her work including the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, the University of Connecticut at Avery point, the Bowery Poetry Club in New York City, and Curbstone Press’ Poetry in the Park series in Willimantic, CT. In May 2007 she traveled to England to read at the Women’s Arts International Festival in Kendal, Cumbria, UK.
Ward’s poems have appeared in the Long Island Quarterly, Temper Review, and Siren among other journals, and online at Poetry Bay, Burning Word, and Poetry Vlog.
