Young At Art
The region’s biggest annual youth art exhibition, Young at Art is back at Mystic Arts Center.
Young at Art will showcase creative work from hundreds of regional students ages 18 and younger in Mystic Arts Center’s galleries. Come see original artwork in a variety of media from oil, photography, and sculpture to mixed media pieces. Submissions will come from all over New London County and Rhode Island with many group projects from area schools displayed.
Award certificates are given for 1st, 2nd 3rd place, honorable mentions and an award for the Lil Maxwell Award for Creativity in three grade categories; K-4, 5-8, and 9-12 with prizes for 2-D and 3-D pieces in each. First place awards include gift certificates towards Mystic Arts Center’s art classes sponsored by Dominion and Steamboat Inn and the family of Lil Maxwell. This year, Young at Art will be juried by Tracy Lawlor, education director at the William Benton Museum of Art.
The exhibit is part of Mystic Arts Center’s commitment to fostering creativity in the community while bringing families together in a community space and encouraging the use of art to advance learning in the region’s schools.
Opening Reception: Saturday, February 16, 1pm – 3pm
